Genealogical and local history notes on Allentown, as well as other Monmouth County and New Jersey towns, copied from published accounts, town and church records, land records, graveyard registers and inscriptions, court records, tax lists, and newspaper articles. Included are: descriptions of farms, church histories, and family genealogies. Genealogies include Hutchinson's own family, Allen, Coward, and Robbins, as well as other early settlers: Adams, Borden, Burnet, Forman, Pearson, Rogers, Steward, and Tindall. Volumes are indexed and cross-referenced by family name. Also includes: Articles and By-laws of the Sober Society (1805), one of the earliest temperance societies in New Jersey, with names of 58 original members; "Return of Birth" and "Report of Death" forms (1878-1890) from Monmouth and Mercer Counties, retained by Dr. Archibald Alexander Howell as attending physician; and five letters (1922) to Ida M. Tarbell, providing genealogy notes on the Lincoln and Salter families. Of interest are hand-drawn, colored maps of family farms, property lines, county limits, and acreage surveys.
